Finally back to normal after the Mission Arts Council show on the weekend, which was fabulous! Many paintings went to new homes, but I've got plenty of new work to show! This is a Vancouver scene, The "Save on Meats" store on East Hastings. The sign is iconic and rather awesome in terms of anthropomorphism, one of my favorite things, particularly in food marketing. It's an oil painting, 8x10, on archival Russian Birch panel. It's for sale, incidentally, feel free to email me for pricing and so forth.

A triumph of anthropomorphism...a cow laughing maniacally while wearing earrings upon which her image is also wearing earrings, and so on. Having said that, this is a really graphic and engaging package, and I had to paint it. It took me forever, but it was fun, and I'm thrilled with the end result. Oil on birch panel, 8x10.

Great to be back to painting after a couple of weeks of vacay with hubby David! This is a painting of a trio of Romero peppers....just lazing around. 5x7, Oil on birch panel.

Working hard to paint for my upcoming show; this painting will be there! It's a sleek little aluminum baker's measure, in miniature. The painting is on birch panel, 6x8.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

One of many paintings of food nestled in or on a sturdy little shot glass. Every person who saw this painting on facebook thought of tequila, while I thought of a nice gin martini with a twist. Different strokes, ne c'est pas?

(This painting is sold.)

One of my first oil paintings from the spring. I'm very fond of this little 5x7" painting, possibly because it makes me contemplate ice cream.....

In other news, I was successful in the jurying process, and will be showing my work in Mission in November. Details to follow!

"Chef" Tin Work in Progress

A painting that's about halfway through the process. The tin is really old and has a lot of discoloration and water damage, so I'll be moving onto that soon. It's important to me that the painting honors the actual object....this tin has likely been around for a century or so, and I'm determined to portray it as realistically as possible. It's 8x10, oil on birch panel.

In other news, off to be juried for a fall show! I hope it goes well, and that the dates work out!
